HOW DO I....

OBTAIN A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION ?

If you hand in your request form before 10.30am your prescription will be ready after 4.00pm the following day. Requests will not be taken by phone or fax.
You can send your request by post and, if you provide a stamped addressed envelope, we will post it to you. Alternatively we can pass it on to a chemist of your choice. Please remember to specify which chemist you would like your prescription to be sent to when you request your repeat. All repeat prescriptions are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that the medication you are on is still required, to check whether it needs updating or where particular tests are necessary to make sure that you are safe. Quite often this does not require a special appointment as all the necessary checks have been done on occasions where you have attended for other reason. We have a clinical pharmacist (Andrew Brandham) working with us who ensures that the medication you receive is the best available. When your medication has been reviewed you will find a slip attached to your latest repeat prescription telling you either that all is well or to see the nurse or the doctor.

Please respond to this slip and only this slip.
Please understand that unless advised by the licensing agency we will prescribe drugs only by their pharmaceutical name not their brand name.
Similarly we will at times change your medication for another product if there is either a benefit for you or the same effect for a reduced price. We do this on the advice of the local pharmaceutical advisor and we will write to you before we do this.
Money can be saved through careful prescribing without affecting your health.
Money so saved is available for other needs within the NHS.
